The non-negotiable annual salary for this position is $47,752.90 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 16, Step 1).

Duties:

Processes mail, requests, messages, memorandums by picking up mail in various locations; sorts, routes and distributes materials to ensure prompt delivery. Prepares materials such as memoranda, letters, confidential information, reports, creates forms using a personal computer according to agency format. Along with the Deputy Director update facility RHU rosters and track imposed inmate sanctions. Orders necessary supplies for the unit. Track all statistics and performance measures of Disciplinary Officers and Hearing Officers through daily and monthly sheets. Learn disciplinary module of IMS and may be assigned to provide assistance at various institutional disciplinary offices on a temporary basis. Remain up to date on all Department training requirements. Awareness of and adherence to laws, rules, regulations and policies (including attendance) governing all employees

Comments:

This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement.

The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph.

The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and (A) at least three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in clerical or secretarial work or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitution:

I. An Associate's degree or higher may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
