Job Description:

:The primary responsibility of the Associate Director, Medical Information is to manage the activities and functional capabilities for providing Medical Information services.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIRED SKILLSThis position will coordinate the development of Medical Information standard responses to unsolicited queries from consumers and healthcare professional for certrain Vertex products. In addition, this position will collaborate with internal businesses on corporate initiatives throughout the lifecycle of Vertex products. This position will also collaborate and communicate with Medical Affairs staff, participate in cross-functional meetings, and contribute to group discussions.  The Associate Director will report into the content lead Director of Global Medical Information.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:     Assist with the implementation of the strategy and vision of Medical Information for certain Vertex productsOversee content management for 1-2 products/investigational compoundsLiaise with publications and clinical development groups to develop and maintain timely and relevant product expertiseTrain and act as primary medical information resource to Medical Information as well as the Commercial groupParticipate in cross-functional, strategic, product meetings to represent GMI and relevant trends and insightsAssist in the development of standard processes related to MI servicesPerform critical analysis and synthesis of internal/external literatureAccountable for the medical information booth at national conferencesAssists in the development/enhancement and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes for the departmentResponsible for supporting the development and training of employees within the Medical Information team through coaching, development discussions and mentoring Potential management of a team of 1-2 GMI managersParticipates in management development and training initiatives to meet current and future business needsDevelop/maintain metrics on key business processes to monitor Medical Information services                                                                                                                           REQUIRED SKILLS:Ability to be independent, multitask and results oriented with hands-on attitude in a fast-paced and energetic environmentExcellent written and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-based matrix environment and to function independently as appropriateAbility to think broadly about scientific communications and the impact on medical contentAbility to develop collaborative relationships with internal colleaguesPREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Advanced degree, doctorate level (PharmD, or Ph.D.) preferred.At least 3 - 5 years of experience in medical information or medical affairsExperience in launch planning and execution of launch related Medical information TacticsDemonstrated success in developing and building teams; coaching/developing direct reports
