Job Description:

The Scientist I works with a high degree of independence and is a high performer in the laboratory. Adept at designing and executing complex experimental procedures and able to design alternative approaches to achieve desired outcomes. An advanced experimental expert leading one or more tasks that has  high impact on projects. Completes work in a resourceful, collaborative, and self-sufficient manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designs and executes complex chemistry experiments, demonstrating ability to multi-task experimental studies and other laboratory duties
  • Troubleshoots a diverse range of chemistry issues at the bench and applies corrective measures
  • Collates and interprets data systematically, and compiles results into clear conclusions or recommendations to guide project decisions
  • Identifies and introduces relevant emerging synthetic and engineering technologies
  • Explores the application of new scientific principles/concepts or novel experimental approaches
  • Authors milestone, weekly and other technical reports in a timely fashion according to department guidelines
  • Independently prepares presentations and presents experimental data, conclusions and recommendations
  • Seeks to actively contribute to department wide meetings and discussions
  • Maintains accurate laboratory notebooks while meeting ELN compliance requirements
  • Maintains SOP training compliance requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with clear ability to work with a team
  • Strong experimentalist who requires little oversight in setting up and performing laboratory duties
  • Exhibits strong synthetic organic chemistry understanding of relevant literature
  • Astute understanding of drug substance regulations and compliance
  • Proven productivity and experimental creativity
  • Effective self-sufficient communication skills, especially in internal presentations and ability to clearly disseminate ideas
  • Demonstrates awareness of other CMC disciplines and an understanding of general concepts and some experimental detail within those areas

Qualification:

  • PhD with 0 – 6 years relevant process chemistry experience or
  • MS with over 2 – 8 years relevant process chemistry experience or
  • BS with over 5 – 10 years relevant process chemistry experience
